The Nigerian institute of Civil Engineers has called on its members to be creative and ensure they embrace integrity in the course of doing their jobs so as to limit the level of corruption among public office holder in the country.
Speaking during the 2018 civil engineering conference in Abuja, former managing director of the Bank of Industry, Evelyn Oputu lamented the inactivity of most engineers in Nigeria while also calling on them to cooperate among themselves, build infrastructures that will outlive them and protect the interest of fellow Nigerians more than their foreign counterpart.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Nigerian institute of Civil Engineers, Ben-Osy Okoh reiterated his commitment not only in building competent engineers but people that will take the lead in strategic roles in the political space to drive the economy of the nation to an enviable height.
The theme of the conference was “Excellence in Engineering and Leadership, a Panacea to economic development”.
