Residents of Epojo Street, Katampe-One, in Mpape area of the Federal Capital Territory are still in confusion as to what the ‘volcanic eruption-like incident’, that occurred close to an electric pole in the hills of the area is.
Reliving their experience to Greetings News, some residents urged government to come up with a possible analysis of the situation.
A Geophysicist with the National Geological Survey Agency, Dr. Godwin Alo who was at the scene of the incident, assured residents that the agency will explore all means to ascertain the actual cause of the eruption.
Greetings News recalls that few weeks ago, Mpape was reportedly struck by earth tremor, which sparked panic in the area.
Meanwhile, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Muhammed Bello alongside his Mines and Steel development counterpart Abubakar Bawa Bwari, have assured residents of the Mpape in the Federal Capital Territory that the recent ground vibration and fire outbreak from the earth around the area was not a major cause for them to worry.
The Ministers who gave the assurance when they paid a visit to the area in the company of other government officials, said experts have been invited to have a look and determine what actually caused the incident urging residents remain calm.
Reacting to the incident, the Director General of the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency, Alex Ndubuisi Nwegbu, said that a malfunction electrical installation around the area may have caused the fire incident even as he promised to intensify efforts to ascertain the real cause.
It will be recalled that residents of the Mpape area in the FCT had on Tuesday witnessed a ground vibration which caused fire outbreak from the earth which resulted in the melting of rocks around the affected area.
